A thought…
What if small recorders/sations actually used the last Fm or your music profile to play a sample of your favorite tune. In the same manner as the karaoke tune chooser. And then you could physically check if you have the same taste in music. Everytime a new person toches he song will change.
This could be fun to do, and maybe when you touch the wall only people with the same taste are being displayed. And maybe this could trigger interesting footage as well.

Real life Facebook….
A link to how a real life Facebook would feel like. Quite funny! And relevant to our discussion on how a
physical Facebook would feel like. Adding friends on the street.

Iteration 05;
Today we presented the latest iteration of our project. We tried to make two quite different concepts on each side of the scale to see where it would be sensible end up. After last week as well I think we can conclude that large displays of any sort is a powerful and enticing tool when people are involved. To see yourself and to show of to friends could at least have some impact on people.
The karaoke part is another issue. I am not entirely sure that it is the right direction to lead this project, I keep fighting with myself over and over again. Even though it could be a great way to get good footage of people.
But at this point this should not be the issue, we should use the last energy to make it a great and social and enticing experience that will enhance the social environment in the festival.
Here are the slides from this iteration:
Experience hooks…
A late update of the workshop with Shulze & Webb last week. The workshop was very inspiring and had great impact. Even though I have studied their website up and down back and forth it something different when seeing their work in action.
The main principle in their “method” is to design around the experience hooks of the poduct or service. Actually designing the moments that you would tell a friend about. One of the examples is how Apple is designing the packaging to be an experience of its own.
Also they stressed how important it is to just start with the first iteration, imagining that the product is already out there and then evidence the most important experience hooks in the life cycle of the artifact.
So in three days we had a concept up and running. The main point is to make it visual because it then is much easier to juge if it has some potential or not, and it is much easier to see what is working or not.
This is a huge lesson for me, because I tend to write to much. And often the same thing over and over again always afraid of making choices. Using this method forces you to make these choices quickly. And then you are free to iterate as many times as you wish.
Another aspect of this method is to make a tag line for the project, a not more than three sentences long description of what your product should be.
Anyway here is the result:
Deaf karaoke
Testing the principle of collaborative karaoke.
Higly influenced by an artist Gunnar pointed us to, namely, Candize Breitz.
Who uses video and karako as a mens for telling the story about extreme fans and probably other stuff.
Fantastic!

Maybe this is the way to go…

Midterm review…

On friday we presented two concepts around social RFID at festivals, The first spins around Facebook and the the idea that you can “bring” your friends to the festivals. As you sign up for the service you give access to you friendslist on Facebook and the system will automatically know who are there and not. The idea is that you can “meet” your friends around the festival without actually meeting them. You will just get some hints about who are there and not.
The critique of this was that it is actually not socially interactive when you are not able to give some feedback or to trace them down. t this stage we had set the technical parameters very low, taking a very realistic approach to the project. And we might end up chaning this a bit in the next iteration.
The main idea was that yu would get some sort of magical encounters with your friends, having a suprising and fun outcome.
The second concept we presented was about Viggo venneløs. We pictured a festival pet displaying the state of the festival. But also having an inner more personal soul. We fell in love with the idea of Viggo displaying everybody on the outside and having a very calm inside maybe displaying your encounters and your network at the festival in an more abstract way. We also imagined that there could be one egg for each scene and that you could talk to people on the other concerts trough the egg. Another idea of the egg was that it had its own personality, getting drunker and more interruptive an more challenging the more the festival had to drink. We imagined that it started to hail people in shouting and being obnoxious.
We also thought that viggo had several peekholes for people to interact with him at the same time, thus making it more social interactive.
